Employee Spotlight: Meet Alma!

Alma joined our Richmond, VA kitchen prep team through a family friend also working for Taziki's nearly four years ago. She'd worked in restaurants for years, and in her experience, they didn't offer her opportunities to learn or do new things, and she came to think that's just the way restaurants worked. 

However, when she joined the Taziki's team and got to know her team and her managers, she thought to herself, "Something is different here." Her management team noticed her hard work, coachability, and attention to detail, and asked her if she'd like to learn additional kitchen stations and start working the line. Excited to be selected, she learned rapidly and it wasn't long before she could do it all! 

 As Alma cemented her place on the team as an A-player, helping lead in the kitchen, she noticed that her confidence was growing daily. While she was excelling in many ways, Alma felt like her next steps of growth might be hindered by her level of English. Knowing this, her supervisor David thought of her right away when an online English training program for employees called Voxy EnGen came along - and what a fit! Alma dedicated herself to regularly practicing her English through online lessons and group classes and the results speak for themselves! 

 Thanks to her hard work, Alma feels more comfortable than ever interacting with guests and assuming more responsibilities in her store. She's now learning important manager tasks from her GM, Danielle, and aiming to run her own Taziki's one day! In her own words - "This is my place. I love coming to work every day. I am so grateful to Taziki's and I love my job!" Alma cares deeply about being a good leader to her team, and wants to continue to grow in confidence and English skills so she'll be ready to coach both the English speakers and Spanish speakers on her team well. 

Alma is the proud mother of a 13-year-old daughter and her favorite item on the Taziki's menu is the Greek Lemon Chicken Soup. And her tip? Try it with Baked Pita!
